Let's all use some common sense

"Oh please let this pain go away in my leg/knee/back!! I am so in need of a good cry it hurts so bad. Hopefully pain med and sleep med will kick in VERY soon.."  - Jane Doe, Facebook

"So apparently my son has "excerise night" at his fathers. He threw up a couple weeks ago because he had him outside running in 100 degree weather! Now he comes home with burn marks on his back from the treadmill! WTF!"  - Mary Jane, Facebook

The above quotes are from friends of mine on Facebook. I show you these because of the stupidity used in the decision to post these types of comments. I understand Facebook and it's impact as a networking tool in society, but what I cannot understand is why on earth would you divulge that kind of personal information?  Look, if your not willing to talk about information in public, in front of perfect strangers, then you really shouldn't be posting it on a website which is viewed by all of your friends, colleagues, and old friends from high school or college. You could use the excuse of "but these are my friends, I know these people".......but this excuse just further shows your ignorance. Most of the people on your so called "friends list" are people from yester-year, co-workers, or casual friends..........lets face it if they were all really that close of friends, why would you keep giving them updates about every aspect of your life online? Assumptions that can be made about you can be found in the following examples:

I could look at the first quote above and assume that Jane Doe is an addict. Why? Because she starts with an excuse....and not just one excuse but THREE!!! Followed by the pain and the level of pain she is in. Next she tells us what is needed to cure the pain, which consists of two narcotics (as if this is a routine).

The next quote tells us that Mary Jane is a single mother, apparently with an abusive ex. The childs father seems more like a violent drill instructer then a father. How could he not, I mean he sends his child home on a regular basis with injures such as forcing him to run in high temperatures and bringing him on the verge of heat exhaustion. Lets not forget the ducktaping to the treadmill and burning his back with the rubber tread (how else would you get burn marks off a treadmill?).

None of this is at all true about these persons i can assure you, but I just want to show you what an old friend might see this as if they haven't been in contact with you in a while. Or how a concerned friend may react to these types of posts. Could that concerned friend approach you about a drug problem? Or contact social services and report abuse?

Lets just think before we post!!!!

Legalization of Marijuana

I am beginning to wonder if the movement on legalizing marijuana is taking the wrong direction. As i am typing this, 13 states have already decriminalized marijuana, taking it one step further then those states allowing medicinal marijuana. As of Aug. 11th, the Prop. 19 initiative in California (which would make it legal for adults to posses marijuana) has cost the taxpayers, lobbyists, and special interest groups of the supporters and the opposition combined close to $300,000. I am willing to believe that the medicinal marijuana campaign in California as well as the other 13 States and DC have spent 10 times that amount in each of their campaigns. My argument is, since we have 14 states and D.C. already moving forward to decriminalize marijuana, shouldn't the other states who haven't even allowed the people to vote on medicinal marijuana save their money and just go after legalizing it instead? What would be the point to spend good money to legalize medicinal marijuana just to have to go and spend more money a year later to fully legalize it. Kind of redundant and a waste of money if you ask me.

Furthermore, why even bother to waste money lobbying, voting, or rallying for the legalization of marijuana? We, as stoners are a huge number country wide. We have a voice, we have our rights. It would be a simple task for all the stoners in all the states, cities, and small towns to just get together on the same day, at the same time (like April 20, 2011 at 4:20 p.m.) and turn in to our local authorities a pin joint. What this would do is overcrowd the legal system in about one hour. Imagine seeing a line wrapped around the block of your local police stations, now imagine the paperwork, fingerprinting, housing, manpower, and feeding of the "criminals" around the country that that would entail. Very quickly would the federal government have to step in and make immediate changes in the laws across the country. If we as a whole would rise up, and take action, we could change this ridiculous issue. One pot smoker can't do it alone, but many could accomplish this dream.

Basis for this blog

Pot for Thought. Pot for thought is kind of a play on words. It doesn't mean thinking about pot, or just talking about pot, it simply means that I will be using pot in order to help me write this blog. Why, you ask? Pot makes me think and write more clearly and more creatively. I like the way my thought process works while I am stoned, everything just seems to make more sense, things become clearer, I find more and imaginative ways to solve problems, and it allows me to relax, calm down, and put my thoughts in order. That last one is my favorite, because my mind constantly, 24-7, 365, nonstop, keeps running. Anyhow, this blog is going to be just that, a blog allowing me to ramble, vent, and express my thoughts. I feel that this may help me in the long run to learn how to work out my thoughts in different ways, instead of allowing them to bottle up and explode. You will see different writing styles, from quick 3-4 liners, to long drawn out rants. Mostly this blog will be about silly laws, decisions by judges, political motives, conspiracies, discrimination, etc., and of course marijuana. Please be warned, I am by no means and English major. If you notice errors, misspells, punctuation mistakes, or anything of that nature, please feel obligated to correct me.
